Canville went online in 1995 as one of the earliest dial-up services to offer a fully graphical user interface. It began as a Community Network serving the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio region, which includes the Cincinnati metro area, West Chester, Liberty Township, Mason and parts of Northern Kentucky. An Internet presence was established in late 1996.

Canville has undergone several changes since then with its newest forum system being launched in 2010.
